Testimonials from horse owners
 |
|
Hi,
just thought I would
drop you a quick line to say a huge thank-you
for developing these shoes. I have had a horse
out of action for a year before trying these
shoes on recommendation from my farrier Jonathan
Nunn. They have totally given me my horse back
again. He got laminitis in one front foot which
we got under control however he was then
constantly getting recurrent accesses... these
shoes have totally cured the problem.
Within a week of having them fitted I was back
riding again. I have to say I can't believe how
they have transformed my horse Sky. Also the
shoes he currently has on have stayed on for the
full 6 weeks which I wasn't expecting to happen.
I would recommend these shoes to anyone who is
having foot problems, especially recurrent
abscesses caused from laminitis, as because
these shoes are requiring no nailing you are not
piercing the foot and allowing dirt etc inside.
I really just want to say a huge Thank-you to
all your team in developing these amazing shoes!

I managed to get my
daughters old JA spotty pony back as it was
suffering from chronic
laminitis. Andrew Poynton
saw him when it was severe and put Imprint shoes
on his front feet. I have since nursed him and
regulated his food intake. As the Imprint shoes
had made such a vast improvement I contacted
your office to find out if you could recommend a
farrier in Hertfordshire who would be able to
continue with this specialised shoeing. You
recommended Andrew Springham.
I would just like to say what an amazing job he
is doing! He is professional, reliable and very
kind and sensitive with my very much loved pony.
He has given him a new lease of life for which I
am very grateful. The pony is now completely
sound and being ridden every day.
Thank you once again.

I can't thank you enough for coming to see my
pony with his severe laminitis and hoof
problems. You have been a great help in
explaining everything you have done for my pony
on Tuesday 27th February. After what the vet was
saying just a few days before, you have made me
feel a lot more positive towards the outcome for
Cloud's life. He was back to his very cheeky
self the next day, opening the stable door and
seeing what mischief he can get into.
He is enjoying his new
sleepers and finding it so much more comfortable
to stand on with his hoof and heel trimmed back
to the correct size. Cloud has been able to
stand out in the sunshine for a few hours at the
weekend (on concrete) and has been lunged a few
times, only walking, his stride looks a
lot more free than it has done for a long time.
I will keep you up to date with Cloud's progress
and of course the weight loss.
Many Thanks

I have an elderly gelding (29) called Gentry who I have
had the pleasure to own for 19 years. He retired 4 years ago due to arthritis
in his knees. When he retired it was easy to take his back shoes off but it
was tricky to get him barefoot in front, he really seemed to struggle without
front shoes. However, over several months my farrier managed to get him to
state where he could cope barefoot. His arthritis means that he finds it very
difficult to bend one of his front legs so conventional shoes are not only
difficult to fit but the concussion of nailing it on really does him no
favours.
About 18 months ago he developed a horrible pedal bone infection in a
front foot |

Gentry in his Imprint shoes |
|
and my vet suggested that he be fitted with front shoes
to try and make him more comfortable. Luckily for me my farrier, Simon
Watkins, has been on your course and suggested trying the Imprint shoes. What
a difference! Immediately, Gentry was more comfortable and he got through the
after effects of the pedal bone infection. After a couple of shoeings with the
Imprint shoes he then went back to being barefoot although I noticed that he
was not as comfortable barefoot.
No-one has told Gentry that he should really take life easy so he still
occasionally has a mad ten minutes in the field. Unfortunately this resulted
in him tweaking both his suspensory and check ligaments in the same leg that
had had the bone infection 6 months previously.
Again my vet thought that shoes would help support his lower leg while the
ligaments healed so we went back to the Imprint shoes. They definitely helped
once again and whilst he was still unsound on that leg he was much better with
the shoes.
So, I have kept him on Imprint shoes ever since! He's switched to the Imprint
Plus for the grip and I am very fortunate in that he seems to keep these shoes
on fairly easily, we sometimes get 8 weeks out of them! My farrier Simon is
just fantastic, he sits on the
floor and applies the shoes with Gentry's toe half an inch off the floor to
accommodate his not-very-bendy knees.
Overall I have come to the conclusion that without Imprint shoes I wouldn't
still have my beloved old boy so I'd like to say a heartfelt thank you from
both of us.

My Icelandic was diagnosed with Cushings disease 2
years ago after an acute attack of laminitis. He was on box rest for 10 weeks
and at one time was lying down most of the time and found it difficult to even
walk across his stable to get to his water bucket. He was on rubber matting, a
deep bed and had bute and ACP as recommended by my vet. The vet also fitted
frog supports which didn't help very much. My farrier, Jonathon Cane, fitted
Imprint shoes as a last resort and this was the turning point in my pony's
recovery. His Cushings is controlled by medication and management, but it is
the shoes that have enabled him to have a good quality of life.
I recently bought a shetland pony. It soon became apparent that he is a
chronic laminitic and after box rest and veterinary care he was still not
particularly comfortable. My farrier fitted Imprint shoes and the pony is
looking comfortable for the first time in months.
Without my brilliant farrier and your shoes, I think the future for both these
ponies would have been very bleak.
- Update -
Just to update you - my vet came today for a follow up
visit on my shetland pony and she was very, very impressed with the difference
the shoes have made to him.
So a heartfelt thank you.

The photos are of Tilly in her field for the first time since the end of
March 2007, a sight I thought I would never see again, as she was very
poorly as you know.
But thanks to you after 3 visits this is the result. Please use these photos
to promote the fantastic work you do to help other horses like Tilly.
Thank you very much, Andrew.

Thanks (that doesn't feel like a big enough word) to
Imprint our 26 year old Shetland has been given not just one new lease of life
but two, this is the second course of shoes we are using and from being unable
to put one foot in front of another Ben walked out of his stable in just over
12 hrs, albeit very gently, but it was great to see. The shoes were fitted by
farrier John Morgan from Soham, who has looked after my horses/ponies feet for
about 15 years.
- Update -
Ben is doing really well and now enjoys going |

Ben - "clipped" when it was very hot last April |

out in the field again with his mates, both he and his
Shetland friend, Pickle, both wear grazing muzzles and are only out
for short periods.

Hello Mr Poynton.
In February 06, my husband Simon Young attended your lecture & training day at
the
Animed Veterinary practice in Wickham, he discussed with you the problems
we were having with one of our New Forest stallions Farriers Field of Dreams.
The stallion had not worked for nearly two years due to laminitis. Dream was a
top performance pony that I also used for a lot of demonstrations. |
 |
|
You very kindly offered to follow Simon home after the
training day, to look at the pony. Simon took your advice and immediately
fitted the pony with Imprint shoes, we also followed a strict management
regime. By May, Dream was off of all pain killers (Danilon) and was covering
several mares. In August I did a dressage demonstration on him. This was the
first time the pony had been ridden in over two years, as you can see by the
picture, medium trot was no problem for him. When you saw him in Feb 06 I had
more or less decided to have him put down as I had a very depressed pony,
obviously in great pain, he is now a very happy chap.
Simon has since used Imprint shoes on
quite a few ponies & horses with success.
We would like to thank you for your kindness, help and invaluable advice.

"Olympia" had Imprint shoes fitted a few weeks ago and
she is walking fantastically - a truly different pony - she walks forward with
confidence and no pain - the change was all most immediate and the stable boys
are stunned that the shoes were so simple and effective.
I had big discussions with farrier (in sign language and
via your sketches as he doesn't speak English and me no Malay!) here about
major trimming - he did as far as he felt was OK - see pictures - I also send
one of the team.

I felt I had to write to thank you and let you know how delighted I am with
your Imprint shoes. I have a 24 year old 14'2 who I have owned since he was
8 yrs old. Over the last 4 years he has suffered two occasions of laminitis
caused by a lameness in his hind feet, which made the front feet more
vulnerable and of course the laminitis developed. He is normally a very fit,
active pony who I ride every day, and of course he took very badly to the
laminitis. The vet asked the blacksmith to put on heart bar shoes, which he
couldn't tolerate and spent most of the time lying down in his stable. After
5 days these were removed and he was put in a deep litter shavings bed with
no shoes on the front at all.
|
|
Whilst in the stable he could walk around with little
problem, but as soon as we moved him next door while his stable was being
mucked out, he found the few steps on the concrete floor quite impossible.
He was making no progress at all and after two months
of seeing him suffering, with no improvement, I was trying not to think of
the inevitable outcome. Someone visiting the yard then mentioned your
Imprint shoes and I thought I would give them a try.
Last Monday he had them fitted and since then has
been making exciting progress. He has since been turned out in the school
for a roll and he bucked, reared, cantered around
just like a 3 year old. I now take him
out twice a day for grass and he is turned into the school to roll and
stretch his legs, which he has no problem doing. It is quite amazing the
difference in him. Everyone agrees he has
improved so much in one week, thanks to Imprint shoes. I am so grateful to
you for giving him his life back. I'm sure if he could talk he would thank
you too!
I would definitely recommend Imprint shoes to anyone with the same problem.
Thank you to all concerned.

The photo shows one of your
'recovering' patients, Minty who is now enjoying 3 to 4 sessions of 'light'
schooling in the arena every week, he continues to improve & has good hoof
growth so am hoping he will be back to full work in a few months. Without a
doubt this is due to him having Imprint shoes fitted from day one & we
cannot thank you enough. Meanwhile our Welsh mare Sadie continues to enjoy
life after having you trim her unshod feet & literally saving her life, as a
chronic laminitic & in considerable discomfort she was due to be destroyed
until |

Minty continues to improve. |

you saw
her & with your 'expert eye' was able to trim her in such a way as to give
her enough comfort and allow her a have a good quality of life.

Imprint Shoes represent a breakthrough in horseshoe
concept and design and offer a new hope for previously hard-to-treat cases.
Andrew’s innovative thinking and compassion for every individual case has
resulted in a range of shoes with a huge flexibility of application not
previously available. There is no doubt that my horse owes his life, and
his quality of life, to Andrew and his Imprint Shoes.
It was a huge shock when my dressage horse suffered
acute laminitis and founder completely out of the blue. The changes to his
feet were so quick and so severe that we feared the worst.
|

Chinny enjoying quality of life again. |
|
Three weeks on, after reading everything I could find about laminitis, I was
fortunate enough to hear about Andrew and his innovative shoes.
Andrew’s concern for the horse was immediately apparent from that first
phone call. Chinny had
his first pair of Imprint shoes the next day and his improved comfort was
obvious. Two years on, through Andrew’s patient care, Chinny has a quality
of life I couldn’t have believed possible. I don’t doubt this would not
have been possible without these shoes and I feel sure that the future is
brighter for many horses like Chinny.

My farrier fitted a pair of Imprint shoes three weeks
ago to my Welsh Cob Luke, who developed laminitis following another injury.
Although his x-rays thankfully were normal, the shoes were fitted as a
precautionary measure and to provide support during box rest. I was pleased
that stick-on shoes were available as I felt Luke was still in too much pain
to have shoes nailed on. Virtually as soon as the shoes were fitted my horse
appeared more comfortable and is continuing to improve daily. I think the
shoes were worth every penny and would recommend them to anyone whose
horse's feet need support for any reason.

“Imprint” has been a Godsend to our
12hh pony – without it she wouldn’t have had any quality of life.
Now, with Andrew’s dedication and
commitment in fitting and producing this remarkable system, she is competing
at local shows and going to Pony Club Camp later this year.
On behalf of myself, my family and of
course our pony (!) we are so grateful to Andrew Poynton and Imprint.

This
testimonial comes straight from the heart; I have had recurring foot
problems with my 13hh WPB for the last 3 years. Different opinions and
ideas from vets and farriers and a lot of heartache worry and fears too!!
After the last X rays my vet referred me to Andrew Poynton FWCF (Malmesbury,
Wiltshire) along with his ‘Imprint Shoes’.
I travelled 2 ˝
hours with trepidation – medication in case he was lame – a bale of shavings
and bandages galore!!
Andrew could
not have been more professional and caring – “My Little Pony” came out of
his forge with "new feet" – and Imprint Shoes on his fronts and re-shod and
rebalanced behind but what a different pony – able to move from the shoulder
– trot out soundly – what a difference. I can only say to “any one out
there” if you have a problem please discuss it with Andrew and give
their shoes and this expert a try.
We’ve just had
our second pair fitted and a re-trim/balance and “My Little Pony” is the
happiest (and comfiest) pony and so am I.
